Reliving ‘Alive From New York’: Full Rebroadcast

On Saturday, May 4, Focus on the Family, our public policy partner and ally, made history by holding a huge pro-life event at Times Square in Manhattan.

Attended by over ten thousand people, the “Alive from New York” event was held in response to the passage of the Reproductive Health Act earlier this year. Speakers included Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King Jr., retired NFL Saint Benjamin Watson, Unplanned’s Ashley Brachter, Christian musician Francesca Battistelli, a number of abortion survivors, and many other pro-life advocates. Our executive director, Jason McGuire, participated as well. According to Baptist Press, “the highlight of the event was a live 4D ultrasound presented on the massive digital screens overlooking Times Square.” The ultrasound was performed on Abby Johnson, whose experience in the abortion industry was depicted in the recent film entitled “Unplanned.” Johnson “amplified her unborn baby’s heartbeat for everyone to hear as she underwent the 4D ultrasound. ‘This is a baby. This right here is a baby,’ Johnson said while patting her stomach. She appeared on stage after the ultrasound and declared that ‘life is winning.’ ‘We will see a day when abortion in this country is unthinkable,’ she said.”

New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms thanks Focus on the Family for putting on this inspiring event. We pray that God will use it to continue to open the eyes and hearts of those who have been deceived into believing that one human being should have the “right to choose” to take the life of an innocent unborn child. Like Abby Johnson, we look forward to the day when our nation repents of the sin of abortion.
