In the midst of a global pandemic that has taken tens of thousands of lives, abortion providers continue to do what they do best. While some abortion clinics remain open, others are closed due to the pandemic; however, abortion providers are using the COVID-19 crisis as a vehicle to promote the increased use of dangerous abortions pills. Furthermore, abortion providers are pushing to allow women access to abortion pills with little or no supervision from physicians.
There is one bit of good news, though. According to Heartbeat International’s Abortion Pill Rescue Network, “the number of women attempting to reverse the effects of the abortion pill and save their babies’ lives doubled in March and April” of 2020. In addition, the percentage of women who call the Abortion Pill Rescue hotline that actually commence the reversal process has increased dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic.
New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms thanks the Lord for the increase in abortion pill reversals, and we salute Heartbeat International for its good work. However, these pill reversals would not be necessary if states would take the appropriate step of barring the distribution of abortion pills without a doctor’s appointment or (better yet) banning abortion pills altogether.
