Councilmember Paladino Directs Funds To Pro-Life Center

Over the past several years, the abortion situation in New York has gone from bad to worse. Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the abortion expansion law known as the Reproductive Health Act into law in 2019. Since taking office, Gov. Kathy Hochul has worked with the Legislature to make New York a magnet for abortion-minded women from other states. Sadly, before this year’s legislative session comes to a close, the Legislature may add to the number of horrendous abortion laws that are already on the books.

Given this grievous state of affairs, it is refreshing to note that not all of New York’s policymakers are abortion industry pawns. Recently, New York City Councilmember Vickie Paladino (R-Queens) made news by awarding $10,000 in city funds to Bridge for Life, a pro-life pregnancy center. Councilmember Paladino’s action was criticized by DocumentedNY.com, which published a heavily one-sided article that repeated tired pro-abortion tropes about pro-life pregnancy centers.

New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms thanks Councilmember Paladino for directing city funds to a pro-life pregnancy center. The Councilmember’s action shows a high level of political courage. Given the obscene amounts of New York state funds that have found their way into the coffers of the abortion industry, it is good to see that some public funds are being used to promote life.
