It’s no secret that Gov. Andrew Cuomo is an enthusiastic supporter of unfettered access to abortion. Less than a year ago, he signed the abortion expansion bill known as the Reproductive Health Act and then celebrated by lighting One World Trade Center in pink. So it’s no surprise to see the Governor hiring personnel who have deep ties to the abortion industry.
Last month, Gov. Andrew Cuomo appointed two former abortion industry insiders to positions in his administration. The first is Emily Kadar, the new Director of Women’s Affairs. Before joining the Cuomo administration, Ms. Kadar worked at the National Institute for Reproductive Health and NIRH Action Fund for seven years. Ms. Kadar even lobbied for the RHA last year. She has also worked at the Center for Reproductive Rights.
The second is Kelli Owens, who has been appointed Executive Director of the State’s Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence. While Ms. Owens previously served as the Governor’s Director of Women’s Affairs, she has also worked as the Vice President of External Affairs for Family Planning Advocates/Planned Parenthood Advocates of New York.
While it hardly seems possible for these two appointees to move the Cuomo administration in an even more aggressively pro-abortion direction, their presence certainly won’t help matters. Personnel are policy and it is clear that the personnel in the Cuomo Administration seek an agenda of ever-expanding abortion.
